Board Members Needed! August 14th Deadline

The IT & Telecom SIG is holding its annual elections and we are looking for motivated, qualified individuals to serve. Elected members will serve for the 2010-2011 term. This is a great opportunity to exercise your leadership within a volunteer organization, control budgets, manage other volunteers, travel to SIG Board events, network, and earn PDUs. You have to act quick, the nominations are due by August 14th.

The election cycle for the 2010-2011 Board is underway. This is your chance to join. Being elected for the Board of Directors of the Information Technology and Telecommunications SIG leadership role will enhance your experience and personal payback (including accumulation of PDU's). Our SIG success is directly attributable to the volunteers who have contributed their time and expertise for the benefit of close to 6000 worldwide members.

The open positions are described below. Here’s what you need to do to be considered:

  1. Review the open positions and qualifications
  2. Decide on a position you are qualified and motivated to fill
  3. Submit your nomination, including:
    • A Statement of Interest for the position that you are nominating yourself for. The statement of interest should be no more than 500 words.
    • A Resume/CV that highlights any volunteer activities as well as professional qualifications.

Vice Chair - Tactical Implementation of Strategy, program mgmt on larger events, and planning for and execution of the Board F2F meetings. Must work in sync with Chair. Eligibility Requirement – In order to be eligible to run for this position, the candidate must have served in some capacity for the IT & Telecom SIG in the past, either as a volunteer or other board member.

Vice President of Finance - Responsible for all SIG financial affairs, including funds collected and disbursed by the SIG. Financial management and accounting, including creating financial vision and planning, watching the money, expenses. This role is not an accountant, but functions much as a CFO would in the corporate world. The CFO role should NOT be outsourced, but some functions (e.g., accounting) may. Eligibility Requirement – In order to be eligible to run for this position, the candidate must have served in some capacity for the IT & Telecom SIG in the past, either as a volunteer or other board member.

Vice President of Operations - This role keeps the engine running, makes the SIG more efficient, and captures the way the Board functions. As a change advocate role needs to push forward and be staffed by a strong leader, and should therefore be a voting, VP position.

Vice President of Technology - Keeper of technology and setting vision for future technology utilization for the SIG.
