VP Member Services: Laurentiu Hirsescu

Laurentiu Hirsescu is an IT professional with over 12 years experience in project management, IT networking, system administration, internet services, IT security, software development, and telecommunications. Laurentiu has a strong knowledge in various project management methodologies and frameworks.

For the past 2 years Laurentiu has been working for Visionmax Solutions Inc. in Toronto, Canada as project manager. In this capacity he has successfully managed multi million projects for top companies from Canada and US. Laurentiu acts also as a PMO member contributing to the implementation of project management processes across the company using frameworks as PMBOK, Agile/Scrum, RUP, and CMMI principles. He is one of the practitioners who believe in using PMI's PMBOK framework in tandem with any flavor of Agile methodologies to drive the company's business to the highest level of profitability using both, local and distributed project teams.
Previous Visionmax Solutions Inc., Laurentiu worked as project manager for ITC Networks (the second largest software development outsourcing provider from Romania) where between 2003 and 2008 managed large projects for one of the world's largest Telecom Company, Nortel Networks. Here, he was instrumental in setting up a long term multi millions outsourcing project and contributing to development of a high level of project leadership. Before ITC Networks, from 1994 to 2003, Laurentiu has been involved in various projects in IT and software development industries. In all the cases he has successfully leveraged the latest IS and telecommunication technologies to create a solid layer for the companies' businesses.

Beside the working activity, Laurentiu has been professional volunteering for the PMI - IT & Telecom SIG in the positions of Manager of UMT Scholarship Program, Manager of Agile Webinar Series, and VP of Member Services.

Laurentiu is a Computer Science Engineer, PMP, CSM, and holds a Master Degree in Business Administration. He is member of PMI Southern Ontario Chapter, PMI IT & Telecom SIG, and PMI Romanian Chapter.

Laurentiu lives in Toronto, Canada, with his wife and their son.
