Application Deadline - January 31st 2010
The IT & Telecom SIG and Learning Tree International are happy to announce the sponsorship of two FREE v3 ITIL FOUNDATION CERTIFICATION course enrollments in 2010. Using the technology of the Learning Tree AnyWare user portal, you can attend this course from anywhere with live video streaming over the Internet. The first scholarship will be awarded early in February. The second one will be awarded in July.

Course #197 provides comprehensive coverage of foundation concepts within the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3. Through case studies, practice exam questions and daily review sessions, you explore and evaluate good practice in IT service management based on the ITIL v3 methodology. You also assess the activities, roles and security issues involved in the Service Management Lifecycle, examine the components of each of the core Service Management Processes (Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement) and cover key Service Management terminology.
The course culminates in the ITIL v3 Foundation Certification Exam, which is offered on the last day of class.
What is ITIL?
The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Version 3 is a customizable framework for good practice of IT services and infrastructure. ITIL was developed in the 1980s by the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency, which later became the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), a governmental organization in the United Kingdom. ITIL has evolved to become the world-wide de facto standard for IT service management and encompasses multiple components of IT service management, including Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement.
What background do I need?
No specific experience is required however, general IT knowledge is assumed.

Who Can Apply?
The Learning Tree ITIL Awards are open globally to any IT & Telecom SIG member pursuing continuing project management education, with the exception of elected officers of the SIG Board and volunteer staff involved in the evaluation of applications.

Award Criteria: The applicant must submit the documents and meet criteria as follow:
1. Must be a member of PMI and a IT & Telecom SIG member.
2. Must be working towards an ITIL Foundation certification or be PMP certified.
o IT & Telecom SIG member who is pursuing his/her ITIL Foundation level certification must provide a statement such as "Yes, I am working towards my designation", as well as a brief summary of current goals for which they would apply this designation in their job. Please, include professional development activities in which you participate and proposed application of the skills and experience resulting from this achievement.
3. Provide a brief overview of "Why I value the ITIL Foundation credential".
4. Submit a resume no longer than two pages, in 12-point font, outlining your project management and IT & Telecom experience.
5. Must be willing to have name and photograph published in IT & Telecom SIG and Learning Tree International publications.
6. Provide a commitment to write a brief article for IT & Telecom SIG publications about their course and certification experience.
7. Completeness and neatness of the application will be scored.
